Artist Statement

Weaving and textiles offer a versatile medium to work with. Both color and pattern I feel are the most important aspects of my work. Some of the most diverse and interesting color choices I believe are with in the very temporary galleries on the sides of freight trains and abandon walls that graffiti occupies. The flow and texture given by their space is one of the most interesting things to document through both stripe and pattern in weaving and in textiles. These colors are directly translated through my fibers. Bright colors mixed with the bold sleek lines that outline their form pop because of their muted environments. Thick stripes of muted colors mixed with slender lines of borderline florescent colors gives my pieces speed and movement. Pattern adds a third dimension to the color and direction.
